I've used that mod(ification) on other boards and it's pretty handy to be able to go in and get rid of dozens of notifications you don't need/want.
I looked for it here a few days ago and realized it must not be a "standard" feature.
The message notifications via jabber would be a great thing, but phpbb 2.2 is a ways out I guess (I was told not to search for it lol ). |

Spot checks on various emails "point to user-side issues" and that our mail logs indicate messages have been sent. _________________ Quis separabit? Quo animo? |

I take that by "user-side issues" you mean anything after your smtp server then.
I had an outage of about 5 days, not the first time either. I never use Yahoo mail.
My problem coincided with other users not getting nitifications so it seems that it's not "finger trouble " at my end.
I also turned off the generic spam filter on my hosting service just in case that had classed my numerous "blackhole" emails as spam.
If you have been able to verify that messages have been sent and are not getting bounced that would suggest the some intermediate server or router is failing or filtering them out .
That would suggest blacklisting somewhere other than Yahboo!
Anyhow, mine seems to be fine since last Sunday so lets hope it stays that way.

Hi,
I have had no notification msgs since last Thurs (20h) 25 Nov 2004
I usually get about 5 or 6 per days. Is this a return of Notfication Failures we here having a couple of months back?
For the record I use a real domain-based POP3 not Yaboo! mail and have no spam filtering on the server.
Dont know if anyone else has flaggedthis yet but thought you might like to check it out.
I'll post again if I dont get anything in the next 24h.
If you need any further info maybe best to PM rather than reply to thread, to be sure I get the msg.
Regards, Gentree.

Well, I can confirm that there's been some kind of disturbance in the force, but the only notifcation that I have expected has arrived, albeit eight hours late. _________________ Please read our FAQ Forum, it answers many of your questions.

Thanks for the reply.
I did get the NM for your reply so looks like that's back up.
Sadly when I clicked on the link I got phpBB can not connect to database/
more disruptions in the force!
All back OK now.

I have had problems with receiving notifications. With me, they sometimes come but sometimes don't. For example, I didn't receive a notification when someone replied to my post at the following thread:
https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?p=1444399#1444399
I'm not using Yahoo.
I always leave the "Notify me when a reply is posted" checkbox checked. |

I posted something in a thread shortly and marked the "send me a mail if someone answers" checkbox. Now I got a mail from the forum, but the link
https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?p=2230963#2230963
leads to a message "the requested thread doesn't exist"
What's the reason for that? _________________ "You may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one." |

Other 12 hours are gone and none email notification arrive to my gmail account. I am sure, that I found several replies in topics, which I am watching.
Does anybody know what to do in such case? Should I wait, email somebody, change some option in my forums.gentoo account or anything other? It seems its only mine problem, since nobody else isnt complaining.
I cant live without email notification. Please, tell me what to do now. Thanks to everyone, who can help me solve this problem. |

Split this from the Watched Topics thread as it fits better here. Usually, these problems are temporary, but we have seen an increase in lost (re)-activation emails in the last few days as well. _________________ Please read our FAQ Forum, it answers many of your questions.

I'm no longer receiving notifications as of a few days ago. Am I to understand that this is a known problem that is being addressed? _________________ Your argument is invalid. |

I have the same problem here. No notification emails. I also changed my email address from my gmx.de-address to my own 100% unfiltered emailserver: still nothing. |

|
|
I changed my email address the other day in my profile and had to have a forum-mod reactivate my profile because I didn't get any emails. well I don't think I'm getting emails to replies. I'm about 90% sure the first reply to this will tell me. for sure, I checked my address it's correct, I checked the... umm... can't think of what they're called(I should know), box where is says "Always notify me of replies:" and that's set to yes so I don't know why it's not working, I figure I'd post and see if any of the forum-mods can help me before I emailed them directly, and yes I checked my spam folder to make sure they weren't there. my email used to go from here to my old school email which was forwarded to my current email. now I set it to go straight from here to there. any help getting my replies in email would be nice.
Edit: Merged with this thread. --Maedhros _________________ I don't hang out here anymore, try asking on http://unix.stackexchange.com/ if you want my help. |

Well, it appears that the mail server didn't want to relay mails from the forums. It should be fixed now, but all failed deliveries in the last few days are lost as far as I know. _________________ Please read our FAQ Forum, it answers many of your questions.

yeah I'm good to go now that's how I got here, well at least I wasn't mistaken, and there was a prob. I kept track of my new stuff manually though so I don't think I've missed any important replies. and anyone who's worried that they may have could always go to find posts by this person, and check all the threads they've posted in that way for new content. _________________ I don't hang out here anymore, try asking on http://unix.stackexchange.com/ if you want my help. |

This issue seems to come up about every 6 months.
Since Tues (5 days ago) I have not had a single notification.
I just looked at a thread I posted to and saw it has had _five_ replies since!
To preempt the usual replies , no I am not using hotmail , I have my own domain.
No I dont have a spam filter. No my server does not delete spam.
Have I upset someone who has cleared all of my watched threads?? How can I check?
TIA , Gentree. _________________ Linux, because I'd rather own a free OS than steal one that's not worth paying for.

Hey, i was about to ask that.
All i can say is that it worked for me the last few days, no idea what could be the cause then. Did anyone else experience problems with that recently? _________________ Dinosaur week! (Ok, this thread is so last week) |

Well prove me a lair! I got three notifs since posting that , including your reply.
I visited a couple of recent threads and I see "stop watching" so my watches are still there.
Silence for several days, now I'm getting input again.
Let's see if this thread gets any me too's.
Thanks for the reply. _________________ Linux, because I'd rather own a free OS than steal one that's not worth paying for.
