I went to the Standard Tcl Library and looked through the documentation, but am not really sure what to do at this point to install it. _________________ If my post was helpful to you, donate $1 to Gentoo. |

Hey there! Might want to try 'emerge tuxracer'. It's in portage. It will install the TCL libraries for you:
Code: | These are the packages that I would merge, in order:
Calculating dependencies done!
[ebuild N ] dev-lang/tcl-8.4.6 -threads 3,367 kB
[ebuild N ] dev-lang/tk-8.4.6-r1 -threads 3,155 kB
[ebuild N ] media-libs/smpeg-0.4.4-r4 +X -debug +gtk +opengl 307 kB
[ebuild N ] media-libs/sdl-mixer-1.2.5-r1 +mikmod +mpeg +oggvorbis 914 kB
[ebuild N ] games-arcade/tuxracer-0.61-r3 -debug -stencil-buffer 7,850 kB
Total size of downloads: 15,595 kB |
Or if you want to use the version you downloaded, just emerge the dependencies. _________________ M. Hayden - San Antonio, TX |

Cool; thanks. I would have never guessed that they would have included that in the distribution. _________________ If my post was helpful to you, donate $1 to Gentoo. |

Bosozoku is right. The simplest way is: Code: | emerge -s <package you want>
like --> emerge -s openoffice |
If you like pretty graphics, head over to http://packages.gentoo.org/ to get an HTML version of the portage repository. Also, that esearch package is awesome for snappy searches. Just merge it, add 'eupdatedb' to your /etc/cron.daily and you can use 'esearch <packagename>' instead of 'emerge -s <packagename'. It gets your search results a lot quicker. _________________ M.
