Making Gentoo register with Dynamic DNS

I have a Windows Server 2003 server set up, and what I'd like to do is, while not setting up Samba and Active Directory completely, just make Gentoo register itself with DNS when it connects (Windows machines who are members of the domain do this). Is this possible, or do I have to do some configuration on the server end?

IIRC, you have to tell the DHCP server to register the Linux box with DNS.

Windows clients update their DNS info. . .Linux clients don't.
