|
|
Hello all,
I want made livecd which will be able boot into windows and I'm choosing right emulation tool. Boot process should be automated, just insert cd and autorun will run linux. Here is what I found.
1) colinux
+ stable enought
+ very fast (native kernel for win32)
- no vga support, x server can run only over tcpip
- no networking support in user mode, need administrator to install
- no sound support
2) qemu
+ networking in user mode
+ vga support
+ sound support
+ more nature (port forwarding, integrated samba etc)
- slow, instructions are emulated, no distcc...
- windows version is in alpha stage
What do you think? Should I support colinux or qemu? |

I'm pretty certain someone has done that with colinux and knoppix. I don't remember where I saw it though.
Also, you can get vga support in colinux if you have an X server installed on your machine, like cygwin's X components. _________________ My blog

Yes, they hack knoppix to boot colinux kernel. Screens are here: http://www.colinux.org/?section=screenshots
But I have problem that you cant use colinux without administrator. Or you can, but you will got only text console without network and xserver.
Is any way howto bypass network driver with only user rights? Serial line, virtual pipe... ? |
