Hi everybody
I have this problem with probably every distro I came accross. I came here for help because right now I'm using distro based on Gentoo, that is Navyn OS. As a LiveCD it works fine, but after installing it to the Hard drive it gives me this info several times at different occasions like booting, starting X and so on (I also haven't managed to startx so far)
The error is:
Code:
hda: dma_timer_expiry dma status ==0x64

I'm using
ASUS A7N8X-X
Athlon Barton 2500+
512 MB DDR
Seagate ST340810A (40 GB, 5400 RPM, Ultra-ATA/100)
Prolink GeForce FX5200 Ultimate
The error appears not only after installing Navyn OS, but like I said after installing every distribution. there are no such problems with LiveCD's, including Navyn OS LiveCD.

If you need any more information about anything just ask
thanks in advance

I have the same drive and it works well for me, i'm usind nitro and gentoo dev sources but have used many distros since 1996 and many kernels (ths hd altough has only two or three years). I haven't ever seen such a error message, but maybe is something related to your motherboard stuff in the kernel, take a look to the chipset config in menuconfig (compile manually if you are using genkernel). Could also help if you could port your dmesg dump and the relevant sections (dms and chipset related) of your .config.

hmm
the thing is most prpbably with my motherboard - I found many problems similar to mine on many different forums, including this one. The only thing in common is the MB I use. Most users ASUS A7N8X-X and different versions of A7N8X face this problem, so I guess I'm gonna have to wait until I change my MB to something else...
