|
|
Every time i boot up I receive the following warnings... Now, I havge ignored warnings int he past and they usually led to BAD things happenning so I'm resolving to keep on top of things =)
Here are the warnings.
(yes, there are two modprobes, yes three lines the same)
modprobe: modprobe: Can't locate module nls_iso8859-1
modprobe: modprobe: Can't locate module nls_iso8859-1
modprobe: modprobe: Can't locate module nls_iso8859-1
There is also a line before that that I cannot see (I am alt + ctrl + F1'ing ot see this, and it won't let me SHift + pageup to see the other one, though it too starts with nls_ )
Any ideas what might be causing this? Is this anything to be worried about? (If you say no, I will hold you personally responsible if my computer dies )

In the kernel config, take a look at filesystems -> Native language support. |

I'm still finishing off a few updates to my install before I try correcting it (so thx also from me for the solution ) but I too have the same problem. Does anyone know what caused it so I can avoid it again? For me it appeared to happen after an update -u world followed by etc-update for something I think was called pan.... but that may just be coincidence. |

Frm the referenced post, it seemed to be a kernel problem...
I haven't gotten around to recompiling my kernel yet though... But my VERY inexperienced guess is you installed something that needed a certain module compiled into the kernel?

For me, I first saw this when I added my winslows drives to /etc/fstab. The extra, needed character maps are easilly compiled into the kernel, though --- I even realized this without help _________________ regards, Esben

They really should reverse the ranking on this forum...
The people with the least posts should be the ones rated as most expierienced..
newbies like me should go into like uber-noobie with each and every extra post that I make _________________ Open your mind. Open your source.
