Hello!
This patch might fix your issue:
http://omfg.linux.dk/pub/patches/nvidia-pudpatch.diff
It is supposed to be applied onto the nvidia driver, not the kernel.
Please report back.
EDIT:
It doesn't apply on the heavily patched nvidia-kernel. Give me a moment. |
can you make from the new one a *.patch file? so it will be easier put in the ebuild with a epatch line. _________________ Too many connections. Please try again later. |

You can still use a .diff in an epatch command. The content is the important thing, not the file extension. _________________ Per Ardua Ad Astra

This one applies on top of Gentoo's heavily patched nvidia-kernel:
http://omfg.linux.dk/pub/patches/2.6.11-rc1-love1-nvidia-pudfix.patch
Let's hope it works out for you.

Thanks for popping in, and thanks for ATi FAQ! Great timing!
Zyne,
The FAQ talks about a "UseInternalAGPGART" X.Org option.
Please try it out, if you aren't already using it!
Thanks. |

hmmm.. I emerged nvidia-kernel 6629-r2. It compiled cleanly (without the patch), but the system crashes when starting X with this driver. It just completely hangs. _________________ If you can't dazzle them with brilliance, baffle them with bullshit. |

As the first post says, NvAGP is broken. Use AGPGART instead, if possible. |

reiser4fix | fix lock up while compiling OpenOffice.Org

Is this a patch a required patch that is not currently in the stable / unstable snapshot? I cannot seem to reproduce this error.... I run reiser 4 and I have compiled OpenOffice twice and Ximian-OO once. Every time it worked just fine..... And I have never patched this myself, and I have never seen this patch anywhere but by word of mouth here on the forums, and it has never been mentioned in any kernel I have run with reiser 4 (any of the nitro or morphs). In fact, I believe the first time I compiled I used the stable snapshot patched against the gentoo-dev-sources-2.6.10-r2.
My HD is as follows for reiser 4
/ is about 70gig Reiser4
/tmp is about 10 gig Reiser4
/var/tmp is symlinked to /tmp/vartmp/ so it isnt on my main partition, but on my swap like it should be.
Could the swap being on its own separate partition be the solution to the problem?

if (random(65535)< 65500) { hose(partition); for (i=0;i<100000000;i++) print_crap(); } |

Will the ATI patch work with the new 8.8.2.5 drivers?

Hey, it's nice to see love-sources come back!
One thing I would like to ask. I'm not familiar with patches and I have to patch ati-drivers to make them work with this kernel.
I tried using adding the patch using epatch in the ebuild, it failed.
I tried patching manually using: patch < 2.6.11-love1-atifix.patch, it failed with ~1000 lines of rejects in drmP.h ...
Any clues?
Thanks! |

copy the ati-drivers-8.8.25.ebuild to your portage overlay and edit it...
add this line:
Code: |
epatch ${FILESDIR}/2.6.11-love1-atifix.patch
|
right after this (line 50/170):
Code: |
if [ "`echo ${KV}|grep 2.6`" ]
then
epatch ${FILESDIR}/fglrx-2.6.10-pci_get_class.patch
fi
|
the do ebuild digest ati-drivers-8.8.25-ebuild in your portage overlay, and re-emerge the ati-drivers...
that should work.... |

Hi,
I unpacked the drivers using 'ebuild foo unpack', and saw that the new drivers are already including drm.h, drm_proc.h and drmP.h, so here's an updated patch, which does not attempt to add them yet again.
http://omfg.linux.dk/pub/patches/2.6.11-rc1-love1-ati-8.8.25-fix.patch
You should be able to follow the instructions posted above with this one too, just swap the filenames.
Farewell.
EDIT:
Has anyone even been able to get into X using either the old or the new ati-drivers yet? |

Seems like a nice kernel but it broke GNU Screen.Typing 'screen' would just do nothing. Also after having lockups with nitro0 and other wierd issues,I think I'll wait a few more releases,as these releases are as buggy as 2.6.8 to early 2.6.9.Hopefully these bugs will be fixed soon though,as I am keen to try the new genetic scheduler and also to see if staircase has finally come into its own(assuming that that isn't what is actually breaking these kernels, which I wouldn't be too suprised if it was) |

two queries:
1) any chance of getting swsusp2 added to this. i couldn't get the patchset to apply
2) what's the difference between this an the nitro series. it sounds like the patches may be similar.
anyone have any experience with the two sets? stability? speed? etc? |

Does this mean Love-sources is done with nick's scheduler for awhile? |
