I'm going to bash my head on my keyboard if this sound things continue
I can tell you why he has sound, he doesn't seem to be using alsa, but OSS. If I disable alsa on startup and only use the oss api emulation from alsa i get sound too...
I hope that answers all sound-related questions _________________ shift HAPPENS |

SCNR
Americas Amry is at the moment running accelerated to Iran.
I don't think that the same workaround will do it for AA, I think that this is an engine-related problem, since all the other games are made by id and base more or less on a similar engine _________________ shift HAPPENS |

I can't get ET to work. I did
Code: | ln -sf /usr/lib/opengl/ati/lib32/libGL.so.1 libGL.so.1 |
in /opt/enemy-territory
And my et script now says the following:
Code: | #!/bin/sh
cd /opt/enemy-territory
export LIBGL_DRIVERS_DIR=/usr/X11R6/lib32/modules/dri
exec ./et.x86 +set r_glDriver /opt/enemy-territory/libGL.so.1
|
What am I doing wrong? |

Those who have got doom3 working, what version of xorg are you using?
I've got the drivers installed OK with the modification the the official ebuild to install libGL.so.1.2.
created the following link in /opt/doom3 :
Code: | lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 38 Jan 19 23:14 libGL.so.1 -> /usr/lib/opengl/ati/lib32/libGL.so.1.2 |
and added the LIBGL_DRIVERS_PATH ( & DIR) entries to the startup script.
When I attempt to start doom3, I can see the monitor switch resolution, then it goes black and my laptop hard locks.
The drivers seem to be installed correctly, as I can run 64bit games (like ut2004-demo) ok with acceleration.
Any ideas?

try Code: | ln -sf /usr/lib/opengl/ati/lib32/libGL.so.1.2 libGL.so.1 | instead of Code: | ln -sf /usr/lib/opengl/ati/lib32/libGL.so.1 libGL.so.1 |

Hey at least all of you have 3D working. I still can't get passed the damn "module not found" error. Right now I'm starting from scratch again. After the new gcc and portage install, I'm going to re-emerge the ati-driver and give it another shot.

By the way... I see some people running fglrxconfig and some not. What gives? Do I just need to edit xorg.conf? Or do I need to run fglrxconfig? _________________ "Be prepared... that's my moto... be prepared." |

you HAVE to run fglrxconfig to get the file created...then you copy it over to the xorg.conf...be sure to fix the kbd line and possibly monitor stuff |
