OK folks -- we've been having some problems with cross-posting, OT posting and general, all-around poor netiquette. Currently, when someone posts in the wrong forum (such as All Things Gentoo) one of the moderators will move it to a different forum and leave a shadow topic in the old forum. (This is what all those "Moved:..." topics are)
We're going to change this. From now on, when someone posts in the wrong forum, we're not going to leave shadow topics any more -- we're just going to move it. The post will show up in the new forum and there will be no indication it ever existed in the old forum. Hopefully, this will help clean up ATG considerably.
So, please do your part and post to the correct forum in the first place. It's one thing to post in the wrong forum because you're new or because you just screwed up. It's another thing entirely to deliberately post in the wrong forum. (repeat offenders will likely elicit a more direct response from one of the moderators)
We want to make these forums as useful and beneficial for all users. This new policy will help that goal considerably.
