One more "easy" question. I have an ATI Radeon 9600XT card and want to finally figure out how to get it working properly [3d support]. I have the .rpm from ATI for X.org 6.8 [which is what I'm running].
My question is: How do you install RPM's on Gentoo? I opened it up with KPackage, but nothing seemed to really display. |

You don't, at least not directly. There are ebuilds for the driver in portage, so you can just do "emerge ati-drivers" to install it. If you follow the link in my sig you should find some installation instructions. _________________ Per Ardua Ad Astra

xxxspitfire ... i can only recommend one thinkg .. read the manual of gentoo online about ebuild and portage all will be more clear for you ^^
D'ont think rpm (who is precompiled software) but think ebuild who can download source from your software and compile it for you so you have the best speed possible for your machine (if you have configured your /etc/make.conf correctly so read the manual ^^) |
