|
|
Hi there!
After updating 'world' I got the sources for a new kernel (2.4.28-gentoo-r5), so I configured it (with slight differences from what I had earlier) and compiled it. I then updated my /etc/modules.d/kernel-2.4 (I don't want to load nvidia nor emu10k1 any more) and ran modules-update.
Now, after booting the new kernel modprobe complains that modules.conf is more recent than modules.dep. Than I get a bunch of error messages that nvidia.o and emu10k1.o could not be found and thus where not loaded.
I'm getting a bit confused with all this, can anyone help, please... |

Well. I don't know why you don't want to load those modules anymore, but they are both modules that have to be re-emerged after each new kernel compile. Try re-emerging them. |

I know that both modules need reemerging and I have tried that. Unfortunately it doesn't help. I don't want to load those modules (yet) as I have had some problems with them previously. |

update your /etc/modules.autoload.d/kernel-2.4 so that it doesn't include the modules that you don't want to load, then run modules-update - should fix it. |
