lirc - https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-p-2102211.html#2102211
emu10k1 - there's no alsa. only oss dsp.

but what's important - it's REALLY FAST!

hey phranzee :D :)
serial lirc really seems to not compile , other lirc option yes.
I try to fix it in next rel.

emu10k1 works here also OSS and ALSA ( static ) .

cheers.

This output means that there is no drivers built INTO the kernel, but you could built them as modules....

Have you built them as modules??

Next vivid-sources as love-sources?? Nobody has noticed that? ;-)

i get this message for both static and module.

i've already fixed lirc - copied from other kernel. but this trick didn't work for emu10k1 :?

Well, I seem to be getting hardlocks when unplugging a USB device. Oh well. Thanks for the hard work still.

Back to morph for me.

Troll : I noticed :P :)

Back to morph for me.

Moloch and TheCoop :
If You are using genetic-anticipatory then please change IO Scheduler to one of the others. Milu is reported the same problem which is gone after changing genetic-anticipatory to other io scheduler.
I also made a small update for reverse mm`s bk-usb patch.

Phranzee: in this update is also latest bk-alsa from alsa-project.org ,I really don`t know what is wrong at You box , here emu10k1 working without any problems.

the small update has :
Code:

reverse of mm`s bk-xfs
reverse of mm`s bk-usb (maybe related to this oops)
setting genetic lib & anticipatory OFF as default ( to avoid propably problems with genetic as)
bk2-to-bk6.diff
bk-alsa from alsa-project.org
it-821x.diff ( replacing mm`s patch a gentoo-dev patch )

http://vivid.dat.pl/fallow/pub/love-sources/2.6.11-rc4-love1/2.6.11-rc4-love1-upd01.diff.bz2

I hope that migrating from genetic-as in cause of oops with unplugging a USB device will help as in Milu situation.
Also really sorry for the all errors :(
I really hope next release will be better a lot , and will be much tested before.

cheers .

alsa/emu10k1 fixed by removing oss support. lirc already fixed.

Code:
time dd if=/dev/urandom bs=1024 count=100000 | md5sum > /dev/null

2.6.9-nitro4 - 0m15.739s
2.6.11-rc4-love1 - 0m24.619s

wtf?

everything is all right :)
ohh :P Phranzee sholud be named " stupidestest benchmark ever! " -> like stupidestest benchmark ever! thread

and kernels should be based on the same version if You want to do this "test" :P :)
here U are .
my box : amd1.0(tbird) , 256mbram etc.

kernels : 2.6.10-rc4-vanilla,2.6.11-rc4-nitro1,2.6.11-rc4-love1.
command :
Code:
time dd if=/dev/urandom bs=1024 count=100000 | md5sum > /dev/null

results :
Code:

2.6.11-rc4-vanilla - O(1)
real    0m48.035s
user    0m1.051s
sys     0m46.693s

2.6.11-rc4-nitro1 - Staircase
real    0m48.943s
user    0m0.961s
sys     0m47.656s

2.6.11-rc4-love1 - NickSched
real    0m47.937s
user    0m1.080s
sys     0m46.516s

as You see every kernel oscilating about the same results.

btw.If You fixed lirc , then would be great If U can send me a correct right version . I will be pleased :)

cheers.

whazzis? compared to fallow's results, or compared to nothing else? you have exactly same machine like he does? same proc, same chipset, same ram etc?

don't mind! i just wondered about that...

2.6.11-rc4-love1, genetic-as:
Quote:
real 0m35.558s
user 0m0.817s
sys 0m32.725s

2.6.11-rc4-bk7, default 0(1)+sched_iso, genetic-as:
Quote:
real 0m36.854s
user 0m0.791s
sys 0m32.931s

now following your theory, love1 is defenetly faster :P lol

Why are you spamming this thread with no-sources advertisements? There is another thread for no-sources related stuff. It's not only impolite, but this kind of behaviour only makes people _not_ want to try them.
