I am also having the problems with libGLU.la

the script suggested didn't find anything wrong...

What's the actual error you're getting? usr/lib/libGLU.la not found? or is there a slash? /usr/lib/libGLU.la?

Unless I'm playing around with things, I don't usually have to do it at all... there was a point not so long ago (xorg upgrade? can't remember) ... when my libGL.la files just disappeared, so I ran it, and it worked... Glad it worked for you too! :)

update:

There was some wrong information on the edocs site regarding .eapp directories/.order files/engage engines. We didn't know it until yesturday. Everything has been fixed now. Sorry for the confusion. There's also a new FAQ section in both Engage and the E17 config section. The .eapp section has also been almost completely rewritten. If you haven't heard of a file called .order I strongly suggest reading it.

Two little things:
1) Is there a way to configure E to get the focus of a windows just by clicking it instead of clicking its title bar?

2) Has anybody got problems recently tring to remerge e_utils? I'm not at home so I don't have access to the logs but they were problems about nvidia references. And yes, the drivers and opengl is working check the games forum with my succeses playing WoW :)
(I'll try to update this post later with the logs and reermege it with the xorg gl libraries)

1.) If I understood correctly and you don't mean the focus-follows-mouse thing, try holding down alt + clicking a window.

2.) works fine here, you'll probably need to opengl-update nvidia

I don't use a system tray, but pypanel at least should work.

e16 just got tray support, and I don't think it'll be too long before e17 gets it, too. Engage (which had tray support) has recently been rewritten, and handeandy seems to have been coding away at it...so it could get included in engage again soon. It might eventually get added to the ibar module, or perhaps even become its own e17 module. I think we'll have to wait until e17 is out of the mini-freeze before it gets added as a module or to an existing core module, but after that -- given the pace at which development has been progressing -- i could see it happening soon. For now, yeah, pypanel should do it.

Engage is now a gadman managed module, but still lacks a systray anyway.

I have no doubt e17 will be great but they need to make a better default theme, I find it hideous

with the animation parts, it feels a lot nicer than it looks in pictures. I was skeptical, too, until I installed it...and now I really like it, as do the people who sit next to me in my classes... but maybe we're just too big of fans of metal-like looks. I've changed the background, and I know at least one user has mentioned successfully hacking the theme to use blue instead of gold, which might be cool, but it's not that bad of a theme in my opinion.

Clean

Dirty

I don't use a system tray per se. Enlightenment uses a iconbar and the menu includes an itme called windows which contains all the open software. I usually have firefox and thunderbird open all the time and access them through this item on the menu.

Yes, I have tried e17 and you are right the effects are quite nice. I just very much dislike that gold theme which seems to be the only one available :?

I've been using Windows for way too long, so I'm reinstalling Gentoo on my linux machine.

Anyway, I am a sucker for eye candy. Is the E17 CVS stable enough for me to use on a 500mhz P3 machine with 128MB RAM?

It's not a heavy windowmanager - and it's possible to disable modules that need many cpu cycles so it's very customizable. You'll probably at least want to disable the init animation. Not sure about the stable comment though, depends a lot on what you mean by that. Yes and no - it's still in early development and has alot of bugs. I use my comp only for irc/media/internet/basic word processing and it's stable enough for me and there are quite a few people who run it as their main wm. Is it stable enough for doing critical work? I'd say no. It depends alot on what kind of CVS snapshot you get, sometimes it's fairly stable, sometimes it's not. Currently E17 is in a mini-freeze so there should only be bugfixes etc added to CVS. I updated 2 days ago and it works pretty well, hasn't crashed etc. Best way to know is to try and see if it works well enough for you.

Hello folks,

I'm getting the following error when trying to compile e-9999:

Code:

 * If it fails to build, FIX THE CODE YOURSELF

Can this be helped?

eet won't emerge:
Code:
Running automake...
configure.in: installing `./install-sh'
configure.in: installing `./missing'
Makefile.am: required file `./README' not found
src/bin/Makefile.am: installing `./depcomp'
 * This is a LIVE CVS ebuild.
 * That means there are NO promises it will work.
 * If it fails to build, FIX THE CODE YOURSELF
 * before reporting any issues.

!!! ERROR: dev-libs/eet-9999 failed.
!!! Function enlightenment_die, Line 73, Exitcode 0
!!! autogen failed

I thought of trying to fix this myself by creating a dummy README for it, but wouldn't it get deleted during the CVS update?
imlib2 is failing the same way... could I have a permissions problem? I'm emerging as root...

dr_strange: Maybe it's trying to compile with a older version of ecore you have? Make sure you've unmasked and merged the cvs (-9999) versions of e's dependencies like ecore, imlib2, etc

I think you'll also find that the same error translates into a number of other EFL libs/apps now. (I think I also got it with edje and ecore (?) but I don't remember which others for sure).
