|
|
OK, so recently i haven't been able to launch my mplayer. Clicking the launch icon on my desktop (through "Applications->Multimedia", i use a gnome desktop) does nothing. And when i try to launch it in the terminal by typing "mplayer" or "gmplayer" i get the following:
Code: | gmplayer: error while loading shared libraries: libdv.so.2: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory |
Incidently, my real player's not launching anymore either....except i get an error message when trying to launch it through my desktop,i get:
Code: | Cannot launch entry
Details: failed to execute child process "realplay" (No such file or directory)
|
Anyone know what's going on?? |

It looks like mplayer can't find libdv. Try the following command:
This his however weird, as my mplayer works just fine without it. It might depend on your USE flags.
Hope this helps.

Alright, I just performed "emerge libdv" like you suggested, but I still get the same message. Any other suggestions? |

Yay, I re-emerged mplayer and it loads up now (I also executed revdep-rebuild for the heck of it too). Thanks for the tip:) . Now, i tried to emerge realplayer also, but apparently that's masked now. Does anyone know what i'm supposed to do it unmask it? |

Scratch that....I just added "media-video/realplayer" into package.unmask...and it re-emerged it. That wasn't too bad. |

Its masked due to some still unfixed security issues, so think twice about using it. |

Thanks for the tip Folks !
I just ran the command revdep-rebuild to fix my mplayer. Best of all, it also fix some others programs that I use to expect problems with.
It's a really nice script. _________________ Ravachol
