Not sure if its actually pam that is causing my problems but it's my guess...
I would really like to be able to create users with what ever username i like.
If i keep my passwords secure i dont see a reason to use rubbish usernames that is hard to remember.
So where do i change this?? |

Do you mean usernames? Or passwords? I've never heard of there being any restrictions on usernames... |

This is some bad joke?! Of course usernames must be unique, you cannot have two different users with the same username... ![Shocked 8O](images/smiles/icon_eek.gif) |

Nope, no joke just bad use of language.
Of course i can't have two users with same name. What i meant was that there seem to be som rule that stops me from using simple usernames like nicke or other easy to break usernames.
Not quite sure it's pam that is doing this or if its some other security rule that i've set wrong. |

My username is "jc", so I think it must be a restriction somewhere else... _________________ No-one's more important than the earthworm. |

Seems like i found the problem..
When addin a user with useradd there seem to be a bit of a delay before it gets into the userlist.
Therefore when i try to run useradd then passwd directly after passwd complains about the user not existing.
So how long should one wait between useradd and passwd? How do i implement this in a bash script? |
