Can't get Gentoo installed on a Netwinder

I decided to recently get my Netwinder formatted and re-installed with Gentoo. I ran across various errors while trying to emerge the packages and compile the kernel. Right now I'm stuck where I load up the default configs for the Netwinder in the kernel and go to make it. It stops at the point where it's trying to compile built-in.o with an error that reads:

local symbol 0: discarded in section `.exit.text' from drivers/built-in.o
local symbol 1: discarded in section `.exit.text' from drivers/built-in.o
local symbol 2: discarded in section `.exit.text' from drivers/built-in.o
local symbol 3: discarded in section `.exit.text' from drivers/built-in.o
make: *** [.tmp_vmlinux1] Error 1

Anyone have any clues as to what is causing this? I haven't had too much time to look into the error yet since work has been keeping me more than busy. Any help would be appreciated.
