Sounds through PC speaker?

Is there a way to use pc speaker to play sounds as replacement for soundcard. I know the quality is not good, but I'd still like to know if it is possible.

It should be possible, there are a few sound drivers for windows 3.1/95 that use the pc speaker, but I don't think there is any alsa/oss equivalent.

Don't know if it actually works, the page is OLD, and it is a patch for the kernel.
