ho emerso baselayout, poi udev hotplug e cold plug..... mi ha detto di fare etc-update, io come un pirla ho detto si a tutte le domande interattive ( 3 ), fatto questo, noto che in bash (su X) non va piu' dicendomi password sbagliata, allora riavvio e non mi fa piu' loggare... help! |

riavvia da livecd, probabilmente ti ha sovrascritto anche /etc/passwd. E sei fortunato che non ti abbia sovrascritto /etc/fstab (come periodicamente succede finché non si impara a non usare -5)...
se non ne hai uno c'è un livecd 2003.1 minimal (~50 MB) su qualunque mirror.

Alzi la mano chi all'inizio non si e' trovato mai in questa situazione...
Buona la soluzione di ferdinando (nonche' forse l'unica), hai la mia solidarieta', fanne tesoro e consolati pensando che "sbagliando si impara" etc-update e' potente ma e' anche molto pericoloso _________________ ~~ Per amore della rosa si sopportano le spine... ~~ |

Grazie ferdinando ,mi hai dato la conferma che cio' che avevo pensato era giusto.....
menomale che ho controllato fstab prima del reboot e rimesso apposto.....(piu' o meno devo riguradarlo)

ma se ricreo le utenze non mi sovrascrive le cartelle in home?
e un'altra cosa.... potro' riportare gentoo alla normalita'? |

Se le crei identiche no, non dovrebbe. A scopo precauzionale però ne farei un backup (tar zcf /mybkup.tar.gz ~/).

C'è anche dispatch-conf che esegue i backup dei file cambiati |

prova a configurare in questo modo il file /etc/etc-update.conf

e a premere "return" quando etc-update di dice che deve modificare dei file.... (invece dei vari -3, -5 ....etc)

Anche a me e' successo i passato e pian piano ho ripristinato il sistema... _________________ cache: a safe place for hiding or storing things..
