I'm quite embarresed to ask this baut i'm a gnome and kde veteran and recently converted to xfce........ how do i make an icon on the desktop?? _________________ The real world isn't what you thought it was going to be?
re-emerge it with gentoo linux! |

As far I as know xfce4 does not support icons on desktop.
Take a look at idesk or sth similar. |

looked at idesk and emerged this now i get this:

Can't find config file or missing 'Config' table in the config file.

the website on sourceforge says something about modifing .ideskrc but i can't find such a file... _________________ The real world isn't what you thought it was going to be?

Read readme.
You need to create both: a ~/.idesktop directory where your icons will be stored and a .ideskrc config file. |

rox (specifically the rox "pinboard") is also a popular means of providing desktop icons in xfce 4.

Yeah, I'd recommend Rox as well, if you're into that sort of thing. It's nice and lightweight, and gtk-based so its a breeze to theme. |
