|

I've been through the printer how-to, and it details
how to setup a parallel port or USB printer with
Gentoo.
How would I go about setting up Linux to use a network
printer?
Basically, I have a home LAN and a Linksys print
server. My HP laserjet 6P is atached to the print
server so everyone in the house can share it.
Thanks for the help! |

Moving from Installing Gentoo.
Have you seen this: http://www.linux.se/doc/HOWTO/Printing-HOWTO/network.html
Better yet, does that help? It's got a lot of networked printing setups, but I'm not sure if any of them will match yours exactly. _________________ if i never try anything, i never learn anything..

Install the Common Unix Printing System (CUPS). You can emerge it from portage. The interface is easy as pie to use. It does IPP, and works great with Samba. I have a CUPS server running on FreeBSD on my LAN and use it with Samba for my windows boxen and CUPS running on Gentoo as a UNIX client.
If you use CUPS make sure to also emerge gimp-print so you get some fancier printer drivers. _________________ My car is made of Nerf. |

Check this thread, it discusses something similar. |

You can use Samba to set up a network printer. |
