|
|
i have a 500MHz Dual USB iBook and i am trying to install gentoo 1.2 on it. i get up the bootstrap, but when it tries to do binutils, i get an error saying:
* Please do not use this release of binutils, as it
* is very buggy (cannot even compile glibc)!!!
!!! ERROR: The ebuild did not complete successfully.
!!! Funcion pkg_setup, Line -31, Exitcode 0
!!! (no error message)
!!! emerge aborting on /usr/portage/sys-devel/binutils/binutils-2.12.90.0.9.ebuild .
could someone tell me what this means and how i should go about fixing it? thanks. axel. |

This is hardcoded into the 2.12.90.0.9 ebuild:
Quote: | pkg_setup() {
eerror
eerror "Please do not use this release of binutils, as it"
eerror "is very buggy (cannot even compile glibc)!!!"
eerror
die
}

So I just think it means you shouldn't use this package, until it gets fixed. Should be blocked by correct settings in cat /etc/make.profile/packages: Quote: | # versions of binutils, gcc and glibc, so we lock them down here. This
*~sys-devel/binutils-2.12.90.0.7 |
