|
|
I just installed Gentoo w/ 2.4.28-r8 gentoo-sources kernel. the first apps i went to emerge were kde and xorg-x11. they both went smoothly. i read the gentoo manual's instructions on getting the KDE logon screen to show at startup instead of the basic terminal login. went to reboot, logged into xorg (i thinks), and it asked me for a session type or something along those lines. i clicked "default/failsafe", and now its just hanging at the grey x screen with only a mouse cursor. its been like this for several mins now, and the hd light isn't blinking at all so i'm assuming that something went awry.
is there a way to get back to a terminal window or command line before it goes into any desktop environments at startup? as you can likely tell, i'm a bit new at this. |
