Just another question aside... are you running a new G5 or a G3/4?
I noticed the ppc64 profile and I was just curious about that... |

Hmmm... I would maybe submit a bug report and look through https://bugs.gentoo.org/ to see if there are any existing fixes then for any ebuilds that you emerge. |

Do people on this thread have any concept of what's being discussed?
#1. If you don't own a Mac. leave. Or at least do us the courtesy of shutting up about stuff you don't know or have experience with.
#2. We are not talking about PPC Gentoo Linux. We are talking about installing Portage into OS X, not Gentoo Linux. The keyword for this is "ppc-macos".
#3. w.r.t. gaim - gaim has one ebuild which is unstable under ppc-macos (~ppc-macos). However, it has deps (nss is the first one it hits) that are not even marked ~ppc-macos. If these can be force-compiled (and work), maybe gaim could be emerged.
So please refrain from posting more irrelevant crap in this thread. If you're interested in PPC Gentoo Linux, please post in the "Gentoo on PPC" forum, not here. _________________ Audioslave--Asus K8V SE Deluxe--Athlon64 3200+--2 GB PC3200 - 6600GT

No, but it irritates me to see all this useless chatter from people who clearly have no idea what they are talking about.
I indeed am a moderator on a different hardware forum - one of the largest on the net. _________________ Audioslave--Asus K8V SE Deluxe--Athlon64 3200+--2 GB PC3200 - 6600GT

SickBoy has a point, where its confusing when people say "emerge gaim" worked fine for me. Then i launch iTerm and figure out why the hell it doesn't work for me. But you guys are talking about the gentoo ppc build, where as me and the original poster is talking about running the portage on OSX. |
