Hi there,
I've been trying to make this work for a week now, but i've got nothing, so decided to post it. I want to convert a avi movie (Xvid video and MP3 audio) to a WMV movie, wich must be in ASF format (Windows media player only reads wmv video in this format) and WMA audio. The only software I found for this operation is ffmpeg, but it doesn't seem to be working.
If I execute:
Code: | ffmpeg -i in.avi -f asf -acodec mp3 -vcodec xvid out.asf |
ffmpeg works perfectly well. Now, if I only change the audio and video codecs for wmav2 (WMA V2) and wmv2 (WMV V7) repectively:
Code: | ffmpeg -i in.avi -f asf -acodec wmav2 -vcodec wmv2 out.asf |
it doesn't happen. The output is:
Code: | ffmpeg version 0.4.9-pre1, build 4743, Copyright (c) 2000-2004 Fabrice Bellard
configuration: --prefix=/usr --host=i686-pc-linux-gnu --mandir=/usr/share/man --infodir=/usr/share/info --datadir=/usr/share --sysconfdir=/etc --localstatedir=/var/lib --enable-shared-pp --enable-shared --disable-static --disable-mmx --enable-faac --enable-ogg --enable-vorbis --enable-faad --enable-faac --enable-faadbin --disable-altivec --enable-debug --enable-mp3lame --disable-a52 --disable-a52bin --enable-audio-oss --enable-v4l --disable-dv1394 --disable-pthreads --enable-xvid --enable-gpl --enable-pp --disable-optimize

Input #0, avi, from 'in.avi':
Duration: 00:01:00.0, start: 0.000000, bitrate: 944 kb/s
Stream #0.0: Video: mpeg4, 320x240, 15.00 fps
Stream #0.1: Audio: mp3, 16000 Hz, mono, 128 kb/s
File 'out.asf' already exists. Overwrite ? [y/N] y
Output #0, asf, to 'out.asf':
Stream #0.0: Video: wmv2, 320x240, 15.00 fps, q=2-31, 200 kb/s
Stream #0.1: Audio: 0x0000, 16000 Hz, mono, 64 kb/s
Stream mapping:
Stream #0.0 -> #0.0
Stream #0.1 -> #0.1
Unsupported codec for output stream #0.1 |
With a little more testing, I found out that the problem is related to the audio codec, since the command:
Code: | ffmpeg -i in.avi -f asf -acodec mp3 -vcodec wmv2 out.asf |
worked just fine. I've tried this in four ffmpeg versions: 0.4.7, 0.4.9_p20050226-r1, 0.4.9_p20050226-r2 and 0.4.9_p20050226-r3 (~x86). Ffmpeg documentation says that the formats above are all supported. Anyone had any kind of experience with this? Is it a gentoo bug?
Thnx!
