Does text between [ CODE ] brackets print properly?
Yes. It is dark and clear like surrounding text.

No. It is light and dotty and hard to read when printed.

Something I have found a bit frustrating is that stuff in [CODE] brackets in the threads does not print properly on my laser printer. It is too light and dotty to read. The other text/fonts are fine.

This is peculiar to GENTOO Forums. I can download or directly print threads from LINUX QUESTIONS for instance, and the text or code between [CODE] brackets is perfectly readable and dark. It may be a choice of font/color I don't know. But it is definitely a GENTOO BOARD problem. Is there any workaround, and has anyone else experienced this?

Your Caps Lock, on the other hand, seems to be working very well.

Have you tried changing font preferences in your browser?

Right now my font preferences simply favour the fonts that the board itself offers, rather than substituting a local font.
The reason I prefer this setting is that it ensures that all the websites I visit present everything the way it was intended, without format errors or text and pictures out of place. This is by far the most useful overall setting, so I am loathe to change it.

But I can try picking a local "double-thick" font or something to try to get the threads to print readably. I wonder if that will even work though, since it is a postscript file that is actually sent to the printer.

The postscript should be created accordingly to your font preferences.

I can't tell you if it looks right for me, as I don't have a printer right now. Maybe tomorrow I can give it a go.

Acutally, it sounds like a phpbb issue to me since linux questions runs on vBulletin. We'd be more than happy to take a look at a mod that would change the way code tags are displayed to make the result more easily printed if you would like to recommend one.

Well, I thought it might be an easy fix, like some stylesheet mod for [ code ] sections.
I am probably over my head for tweaking your board code if it is not neatly sorted out.
If this is a big problem, I don't mean to cause undue work for anyone if no one else has any problems printing but me.
That's why I thought the poll might provide a sample of what is really going on out there on other systems.

It seems like the problem is that your printer tries to make a gray scale image of the coloured text from the forums. Can you make the printer ignore colours and make everything just black and white? Changing the colour of code block text would be another option, even though I like the green it is now. You can save a thread to your hard drive and play with the stylesheet if you want. Linuxquestions use black text for everything as far as i can tell.
