I just recompiled my kernel and got rid of the pre-empting and grsecurity which, I believe, was stopping me from playing some games (like cstrike under vanilla wine).
Well, running glxgears I now get just under 60fps (yes thats 60 fps!!), which is horrible horrible considering my system is an Athlon XP 2000+, Radeon 9500 Pro (seen as 9700 though). However, fgl_glxgears gives nearly the same FPS, and RtCW runs perfectly.
Also, wine gives a segfault (I think... it's not WineX its just wine 20021125). I'm compiling the latest wine (20030219), to see where it gets me, but does anyone know anything about this? Before I could at least get into cstrike and it would hang on trying to connect to a server (Loading...) |
