|
|
Hi, well i probably had taken the split downloading for granted when i used to use flashget in wondows.. cuz i never realised how important it was unless i cant get it running anymore in linux
Ok, for a list of my woes.. d4x wasnt getting compiled at all, so after some struggling finally got it up and running., but when i specify the number of parts to split the file in.. in the log it says cant split to the specified no. of parts.. ?????
I even tried Aria, it splits the files in say 5 parts but just downloads one by one at a time.. not all simultaneously.
I have a 8.5mbit connection, and get normal speeds of 860kbps download from my isp's ftp.., but to get all da bandwidth utilised i have to use split downloading..
Any ideas as of how to do it with wget ? cuz when emerging large files, i notice wget gets to the full 860kbps while fetching files from my isp's ftp.. when when i manually run wget URL, i only get 200kbps speeds..
Any suggestions ?
Thanx,

The whole "split downloads" thing is pure placebo effect, IM(NS)HO. I have never seen any of those downloaders (including FlashGet) result in higher download speeds than a single wget thread - except on old 28.8 or 33.6 kbps modems. And that includes Windows (I use a Win32 port of wget to download files under Windows). _________________ Military Commissions Act of 2006: http://tinyurl.com/jrcto
