Hy @ all!
As you can see i'm new to Gentoo (and i'm sorry for the english). I just emerged xorg-X11 and configured it. Works!
At the last installation i used KDE. Now I decided to use GNOME instead. Don't even know which one is better for me, so i'm trying. Now the problem:
# emerge gnome (or gnome-light)
-->
Code: |
Calculating dependencies ....
..
..
Unpacking source...
Unpacking gtk+ ...... so on
#
# Here it starts i think
#
Patching $[{S}/ltmain.sh ...
* Portage Patch failed to apply (ltmain.sh version 1.3.4)!
!!! ERROR: x11-libs/gtk+-1.2.10-r11 failed-
!!! Function elibtoolize, Line 240, Exitcode 0
!!! Portage patch failed to apply!
!!! So on

I've searched the forum for a long time, found sth. similiar, but wasn't really the same. I googled and looked into bugzilla. Maybe I'm still to dumb to find any result. Btw.: Tried then to use
# emerge kde-base
because gnome didn't work, but it doesn't, too.
USE Flag is set for both kde and gnome. One thing i forgot to set was hal in USE.
Can someone help me? Give hints or maybe the whole solution!?
What more information do you need to help?
Thanks for answering

P.S.: Why does the color tag not work? |

Now I'm really confused. I found this thread before and thought this could work. After the three emerges it still didn't work.
I remerged the gcc and tried libtool, too. And at least three emerge --sync and a few reboots.
Now I've tried it again and gnome is emerging, for now. Have to see tomorrow morning if it worked well.
As i'm interested in (trying) to understand this stuff i ask myself what these last two lines do? At the moment i don't really understand it although i used emerge --help.
I'll thank you so far for this quick and good answer.

Again, please follow up with replies on https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-335951.html and not on this thread. Creating duplicates is not good, and this thread will be moved to the Duplicates forum soon. _________________ Military Commissions Act of 2006: http://tinyurl.com/jrcto
