i gues it is my fault, but i'm not sure
the question is how can i repair the issue

so the problem is that
/dev/ide/host0/bus1/target1/lun0 is empty
the /dev/ide/host0/bus0/target0/lun0 is ok and the simlinks /dev/hda* ar linked ok
in the beginnig(first week, dunno for sure) the cd-rw was functioning properly(on this gentoo instalation)

i think that i have done smth wrong but i don't know waht?
what can i do to fix this issue,so the cd-rw would run again ..
thanx for your time!

Have you made any changes to your kernel or lilo.conf since it stopped working?

well i have made some changes :D
but it is not from kernel either grub.conf

i have compiled the 2.4.20 kernel but have also leave the first 2.4.19 and the second 2.4.19 kernels in grub.conf (yes i have 3 bzImages )
i can swear that the first 2.4.19 was recognizing the cdrom corectly ..but now even that kernel does it no more...
but now i'm going to delete the hdd=ide-scsi to see what' happening

if it was in ide-scsi, then it would not be listed in /dev/ide
it would be in /dev/scsi/host0/bus0/target0/lun0/cd most likely
and /dev/sr0 would be a symlink to it...
