|
|
I get through emerge --sync, then I do my make.conf, then I get to emerge --emptytree system, and it all goes wrong:
It starts by emerging patch-2.5.9, but fails with:
"patch.c: In function 'copy_till':
patch.c:1201: internal compiler error: in expand_call, at calls.c:2361
Please submit a full bug report,
with preprocessed source if appropriate.
See <URL:https://bugs.gentoo.org/> for instructions.
The bug is not reproducible, so it is likely to be a hardware os OS problem.
make: *** [patch.o] Error 1
make: **** Waiting for unfinished jobs....
!!! ERROR: sys-devel/patch-2.5.9 failed.
!!! Function src_compile, Line 38, Exitcode 2
!!! emake failed"
So er, damn.
emerge --sync didn't go 100% successfully either by the way, it failed with "rsync session terminated", but then did retry 2 out of 3 and successfully competed then.
I have tried starting over a few times now, so it wasn't just a free emerge --sync error.
Any ideas, I'm basically stuck without a functioning desktop till this is solved.

Ouch, well better return the ram and get some good ones instead if that's possible. Cause of the problem is pretty clear here. _________________ Please add [solved] to the initial post's subject line if you feel your problem is resolved. Help answer the unanswered

Thanks bkunlimited for suggesting running the memtest, it has at least saved hours more time wasted trying to find the problem. |
