I've a small home network with 2 pc (one as a download server running gentoo and the other dualboot WinXp / gentoo) and samba running fine.
The IP addresses of my machines are assigned dynamicaly by the DHCP server of my ISP.
So, is there an utility to translate the NETBIOS name of the samba server to his IP address?
It will be good to use this in boot scripts to adjust some config files and bookmarks.. thank you! _________________ http://www.phatsoft.net |

I'm not 100% sure what you need to do this for (is it a problem mounting smb shares on boot?), but the output of Code: | smbclient -L //SERVERNAME | will include the IP address.
I can give you some more help if you let me know what exactly you're trying to do.
