Well, I was 100% clueless about this until searching around on here for how to set up a wireless connection on this thing, so I managed to knock off 10% at least.

Most of the time, I'm told it was able to configure my card, but it seems to hang up for a long time on getting an IP address, never does and continues booting.

Card : D-Link AirPlus ("Xtreme G") DWL-G520 Wireless PCI Adapter (rev. B)

Uncommented lines in /etc/conf.d/wireless :

essid_wlan0="any"
mode_wlan0="auto"
adhoc_essid_wlan0="<a name>"
channel_wlan0="6"
scan_mode_wlan0="Ad-Hoc"
key_<a name>="<a 128-bit key>"

Two relevant lines in /var/log/messages :

May 28 21:31:06 hostname ndiswrapper (iw_set_tx_power:354): setting tx_power failed (C0010017)
May 28 21:33:17 hostname dhcpcd[10519]: timed out waiting for a valid DHCP server response

So, er. What should I do next?

as far as i know, you shouldn't be using ndiswrapper at all for that card, the windows drivers are crap either way. madwifi should have support for your card, as it's atheros based.

well, you might wanna find out if it's atheros based first. sorry about forgetting that in the former post.

Code:
lspci -v | more

as root should tell you. just thumb through it until you find the right device.
