Signatures are not indexed and hence not searchable. For instance, search for "faq answers" with or without me as author. _________________ Please read our FAQ Forum, it answers many of your questions.

Hmmm, that's strange. Because it was happening to me. Too bad I cannot remember what I was searching for. I'll let you know if it happens again...

I just want to say thank you for the changes. The search function was becoming increasingly useless over the last year. In the past, I've found the answer to 99% of my gentoo questions/problems by searching the forums. Recently however, it had become a major drag to find what I was looking for - I can just imagine the number of users who simply gave up and started a duplicate thread. Keep up the good work! |

I'm on a roll here, sorry for being so pesky...
In my searches sometimes I get results with gargantuan threads such as this one.
It would be great if the search somehow indiciated which page the keyword I used in on.
Just a thought, I won't hate you guys if you don't implement it. Thanks again for improving our lives already.

You can see your unofficial (i.e., counting OTW) post count at https://forums.gentoo.org/search.php?search_author=padoor
To get your OTW post count, just subtract your official post count from the unofficial post count. Also note that the unofficial post count is incapable of advancing beyond 6666, though I have no idea why. _________________

Oh, well that makes sense. The point of the new/unanswered posts feature is to allow people to quickly find unsolved threads. Besides, I get the feeling that the ops sort of try to hide OTW, so that people aren't scared away from fgo as a whole ;/ _________________

The forum software also has a nasty habit of marking threads as read when they aren't. It seems like it may be that it only marks it unread for some amount of time and then decided to mark it as read. Then sometimes it won't mark it read when I have opened it. Also many times the icon that is supposed to take you to the first unread post in a thread will bring me to a much older post, and it should know since the post has a white page icon instead of an orange page.
Then there's the "View you posts" feature can't seem to find older threads. It finds 111 threads while using the search function and searching my username gives me 1031 threads. _________________ Joe Mulloy | http://twitter.com/jdmulloy | Ron Paul in 2012! | 5-1-07 | Unban Playfool | Fire your "Too big to fail" bank http://moveyourmoney.info |

Yes and this is also true for the various international forums like german, italian and such - including the subforums to them.

Deleting cookies and local cache sometimes helps here

View your posts only looks 8 (iirc) weeks back in time, this is to lighten the load on the server. _________________ Nothing is secure / Security is always a trade-off with usability / Do not assume anything / Trust no-one, nothing / Paranoia is your friend / Think for yourself |

That "new post" button has never worked for me either. _________________ iVBORw0KGgoAAAANSUhEUgAAA

I think there's a thread in here explaining it. OTW was eliminated from search by default, so that probably impacted this as well.
