Would it be a good idea to implement a 'general linux questions' section of the forum that would house questions pertaining to linux in general but not nessecarilly to gentoo? It seems that we've been getting some questions that would fall under this category recently. Is this a good idea? Has it been discussed before? Thoughts, comments, flaming all welcome....

Not sure what you mean. If you mean 'will the posters know if they're question fits in that category?' then YES. There are always going to be people who post in the wrong forum, but for the most part, i think most people are careful, and look at the different catagories to find out where they should post.
Ansient: Thanks. One thing I should note though. I'm suggesting that this forum be created in addition to otw and unsupported software.
For everything to hold up, one more change may have to be made: 'unsupported software' may need to be changed to 'Gentoo Unsupported Software.' or something similiar. If this change is not made as well, then NeddySeagoon's fears could become a reality. This is already implemented in the description of 'Unsupported Software': | Quote: | | This forum covers all Gentoo-related software not officially supported by Gentoo. but unfortunately I doubt many people go beyond the title of the forum.
All in all, however, the addition of this forum would, I believe, clean things up a little.
