Remember the good old "Streets of Rage" series on the Sega Genesis?
Well a group of coders has made a freeware sequel it seems. The source code is available and the game has been ported to several systems already, just not to Linux yet.
Anyone care to try? |

It seems like it can be compiled to use SDL which should make it easy to port to linux. I'll look into it. |

This is how far I am: it compiles but doesn't run very far:
Code: |
Beats of Rage V1.0029, compile date: Jul 1 2005
Screen allocation...
Loading font...
SDL init
Segmentation fault
|
EDIT
Seems like the original code has some serious memory management errors which are not caught by some lesser OS's. |

I have the game running. However at its default resolution it has some problems. When specifying a higher resolution say 800 x 600 there is no problem on my system. This problem could arise on my system because the 320x200 resolution is not supported and the SDL emulates it by using only the center of the lowest supported.
There isl actually one problem I know of, changing the sample rate or bits per sample fails but it does that on windows to so it doesn't seem to be specific to my linux port. |
