Hi All,
I recently installed Gentoo on my work laptop, and have a USB mouse a a second mouse to supplement the trackpoint. I had trouble getting it to work in X (it work straigh away in Slackware...). I followed the suggestions in these forums, but nothing seemed to work. Then I noticed that the HID module was not being loaded. When I manually loaded it, my mouse now worked perfectly . So if you're USB mouse is not working, try adding
to /etc/modules.autoload |

Remember to compile HID as a module in the kernel first though
