I'm running an amd k6-2 500mhz box...and well, it just took almost a minute and a half to open up a terminal in gnome. I checked w/hdparm and DMA is off.
I ran hdparm -d1 -X66 /dev/hda
and the output as follows:
HDIO_SET_DMA:Operation Not Permitted
Yes I am doing this command as root, as as of now root is the only user able to log into X...that's another kettle of fish.
Any help on the DMA bit would be appreciated. |

Make sure you compile support for your IDE chipset into your kernel. _________________ Sometimes the appropriate response to reality is to go insane.
