|
|
I am attempting to use RealVNC to do some remote maintenance on a family member's computer, but I have run into a rather peculiar bit of trouble.
I can connect to the VNC server on the machine in question, and it then requests the password, but it never authenticates, even when the correct password is entered.
The remote (server) machine is running Windows, behind a firewall with ports 5800-5802 and 5900-5902 forwarded to the proper local IP.
I have the same copy of the RealVNC server running on my wife's Windows laptop, and I can connect to it just fine on our home network, so the vnc package on my machine doesn't seem to be at fault.
What is going on here? Do I need to forward a certain port from my router to my machine so vnc can 'hear' the authentication response?
Any ideas or assistance would be greatly appreciated. |

Did you make sure to allow the host/ip that you are connecting from in the server configuration? I had to add * to the "Access Control" section of the Connections tab to allow all hosts.
