I recently bought a really cheap Sun Ultra 5 workstation to use as a router. Problem is, I forgot that a router required two ethernet cards . I can find the Sun ethernet cards for around $100(US), but that seems really expensive. The system is supposed to be PCI, but I am not sure about driver issues under the sparc64 kernel. Can I use an alternative card, like the 3Com Vortex cards? Also, are there any wireless cards that will work with this hardware? |

Supposedly if it's a PCI card, it'll work under Linux.
Now looking in the kernel config, you can enable support for the 3Com Vortex card and wireless cards like the Orinocos. How well they will work is another question. If anyone has any experience with either please post. |
