|
|
Hi,
I've recently bought me a new Laptop, because my old one had a problem with the gfx-card.
My new Laptop has an integrated atheros AR5212 802.11abg NIC (rev 01) mini-pci card.
Wlan access works fine for me, but the scanning support is gone.
If I try the system replyes Code: | ath0 Interface doesn't support scanning : Invalid argument | .
So i tried it with my old PCMCIA Atheros card and got the same results, but with the old PCMCIA card in my old laptop scanning worked fine.
Has anyone encountered a similar problem?
I'll apreciate any help/comment/hint.
Thanks Herrzattacke

1- is your card up?
2- is it in ad-hoc mode?
Some cards need to be in ad-hoc mode for scanning |

I already tried all combnations of ad-hoc and ifconfig ath0 up .... but is does not work.
What i recognized right now that the PCMCIA and the mini-PCI card use excaxtly the same Atheros chip.
Code: |
lspci |grep Atheros
0000:04:02.0 Ethernet controller: Atheros Communications, Inc. AR5212 802.11abg NIC (rev 01)
0000:05:00.0 Ethernet controller: Atheros Communications, Inc. AR5212 802.11abg NIC (rev 01)

I've solved it by merging the freshest wireless-tools ... >= 28-r3.
and the new madwifi-drivers... own ebuild( cvs 20050704)
workes fine since then.
