Hi!
I've just emerged qmail and missconfigured it i guess.... The outgoing mail is sent right, but i can't get any mail from outside. Here is what i get back:
Code: | Hi. This is the qmail-send program at my.full-domain.name. I'm afraid I wasn't able to deliver your message to the following addresses. This is a permanent error; I've given up. Sorry it didn't work out.
<root@my-domain-name>:
Sorry. Although I'm listed as a best-preference MX or A for that host, it isn't in my control/locals file, so I don't treat it as local. (#5.4.6) |
I've replaced my.domain-name with my real domain name
Any ideas what might couse this error? I was using sendmail for all this years |

Hello
Just a quick question...did you run the /var/qmail/bin/config-fast <hostname> script ? It sets up which name the server will accept mail as etc.
A GOOD guide to installing qmail and making it work correctly is http://www.lifewithqmail.com/lwq.html
Hope this helps

Ok, I take it the /var/qmail/bin/config-fast script didn't solve your problem.
Since you seem to have absolutely no clue as to what might be the problem, may I suggest you follow the configuration instructions to the letter (thos in the webpage i gave you the link too in the post above.)
Sorry, I'm not able to help you with a solution, but it's kinda hard when anything might be the cause of the problem
Hey ! Wait a minute....have you created a /var/qmail/users/assign file that contains the correct lines for the user root ?
