Somehow my /etc/inin.d/net.lo got deleted and now my network services won't start obviously.

Does anyone know how I can get net.lo back?

Someone else might have to answer that for you, all I know is that it brought this back and my system worked again. From what I can see it didn't mess up any configurations. You might want to research into it a bit first. Let me know if you find anything.

Well, since I don't have the internet because of this, do you know if it resides on the Install disk or package cd?

Oh shoot! I still had the internet it just caused some programs that needed the loopback interface to not work. I would suggest digging around in the livecd to see if there is something on there. I'm not sure how else you could get it.

Ya, I tried doing that but I think it's rapped into a tar some where. I have been searching around these forums and google for about an hour now and haven't been able to find anything...

Do you happen to know if the net.lo is machine specific or something universal? Maybe I can just have someone to send me theirs....

I'm not sure, but I will look at mine when I get home to see what it contains. That might work.

Anyone else have any ideas? I tried etc-update and that didn't work either.

Is it possible for someone to just send me the file?

if you have the package cd try there. (I don't know if it on there or where)
you could alwas plum your eth0 by hand and do a manaul get of the file or boot of the live-cd and chroot. etc, etc, and emerge it that way.

Alright....after some time checking the contents of the .tar files on the LiveCD I think would contain the file I finally found it. The file/scripts are contained in the stage tarbul for your arch.

So I unzipped the file into a temp directory and copied over the net.lo file back into /etc/init.d/ and everything works now and is back to normal! Thank you guys for your help!
