Hello all
I need a secure ftp client, non-interactive, so there is no way to hackers access the shell... do you know if there is any ftp client like this?
If not, what is the best solution? sftp? I can use -b option, but it is not a non-interactive client...
well, hope you can help me
Thanks, Luiz Gustavo, Brazil |

If the ftp server is setup properly this shouldn't be a problem. Both vsftp and proftp are good options for servers (vsftp stands for very secure ftp). As for removing shell access your best bet is probably to chroot jail anyone who accesses your ftp server. |

I can't say i've ever used it. I pretty sure the only reason i've used vsftpd and proftpd is because there are comprehensive wiki's for them on gentoo-wiki. If your intertested read this http://gentoo-wiki.com/HOWTO_ProFTPD
It goes through step by step how to setup the ftp as well as lock it down. There is relevent NAT and iptables information as well so that it integrates and all in all plays nicely with your firewall. |
