At my school we have a very tight network.
I want to ssh into my computer from school... schools firewall is impossible to work with... I can't even ping the outside world from a command prompt... basically... ping google.com finds teh ip address from the nameserver but cannot get the response.
Im not sure but i think that they have a filter on the main firewall as to which programs can access the internet.
any ProxyTunnel like software for windows?
any way i can install extensions into firefox to do some stuff like this? (firefox can get through no problem)
I dont have windows administration rights (obviously) so i cant install tons...
am i just out of luck???
any tests i can run to see what my situation really is? |

Are you trying to get past the firewall, or modify school property (the computer)?
Bypassing the firewall (connecting on alternate ports) is pretty straightforward, but breaking (reconfiguring) school equipment is something most people won't help you accomplish. _________________ Mike

To directly answer your question. Putty, the windows ssh client has built in proxie support.
So that should get you started as to accessing your home computer from school.
One other thing. Have you tried just asking? Politly. _________________ My Public Key
