|
|
I have recently been trying out different twinview combinations, but in the end i decided the best thing would be to run two X servers, one on each.
Thing is, I use KDE and on the second screen I got a default KDE environment. What I wanted was to run e16 on the other screen, i've been searching but couldn't find anything relevant, so i decided to ask for help.
Thanks in advance. |

Why would you want to do that? Having a separate X for another monitor would complicate things too much. If you configured both X sessions to use the same mouse, the same mouse motions would be mimiked in both screens, I would imagine. Why not expand your current desktop to the other monitor? That would be so much easier.... _________________ Sometimes you feel like a nut, sometimes you don't

Interesting how this thing comes up so often in the last few days.
I posted a while ago about the same thing.
Maybe you can help me.
You say that you have two xservers running simultaneously ?
How do you make them owork at the same time ?
Everytime I use two xservers I end up having one of them blanked out as long as i
wok on the other one.
@your problem :
How do start the servers ?
xinit or startx should not work for that.
Wouldn't you need to run : X - config "configfile-one" :0.0 &" Windowmanager1" -display :0.0
and
X - config "configfile-two" :1.0 &" Windowmanager2" -display :1.0
?

Not necessarily. You can always run X -config configfile and use completely different input devices. _________________ If it ain't broke, tweak it. dvds | blurays | blog | wiki |

I understand that....but who would want to have to mouses (yes, mouses is proper tech grammar, I checked) and two keyboards? That would be annoying. I have 2 comps on the same desk, and it is hard to keep from using the wrong keyboard. _________________ Sometimes you feel like a nut, sometimes you don't

Thanks! This will help when I have other customers' computers hooked up to my workbench, and allow me to simplify its layout. I'll have to give it a try. _________________ Sometimes you feel like a nut, sometimes you don't

I was thinking more along the lines of having your lirc remote control be the input on one, and your keyboard mouse on the other. _________________ If it ain't broke, tweak it. dvds | blurays | blog | wiki |
