Is there a way to change permissions of a folder and all subfolders within that folder using gnome menus? How about the owner?
Also, is there something similar to konqueror/fish for gnome? I used the fish protocol all the time in kde, and since I uninstalled KDE, I'm missing that feature greatly |

Quote: | chown [username] /test -R
chgrp [groupname] /test -R |
this would recursively change owner and group of /test and all subdirectories (if thats what you wanted... : ) |

Using the GNOME file manager I think you can only do it on a specific folder or file, not recursively.

Yeah, you have gnomevfs. Simplest way is by using Places->Connect to Server. You can also simply enter the location in the file manger with "ssh://" or "ftp://" and similar. But the connect to server dialog shows all protocols you can use. |

Thanks, I didn't even think of simply using ssh:// in a file manager. I came across a website that said nautilus will be including ways to change permissions recursively in a future release. I guess I'll have to use chown and
chgrp until then. |
