having problems installing qmail server

I've been having headaches with vapier's qmail/vpopmail guide for about a year now. (I only piddle with it when I have the time) Mostly, I never had any problems getting to the point that qmail was setup. (Never did get pop3 and imap just right)

At any rate, I unmerged everything, re-emerged qmail, and checked my config files with the idea of starting from scratch. Now, with svscan running and the softlink in the service directory, I'm not getting any mails. I'm at the point in the guide where I qmail-inject test emails to the appropriate users, and the qmail control files all contain the appropriate information.

OK sorry for stating the obvious but did you try adjusting permissions on the home directory?

You know, I don't know what I did, but when I checked the permissions, my home directory was open to all and sundry. chmod 755 fixed it, and now the mail works fine. Thanks.

Good to hear. Qmail in my experience is very picky/specific on what users and permissions are applied to its folders and files. This can be a good thing, yet a pain when something breaks
