The specific version of ffmpeg you are using *most likely* is the one that doesn;t work
add this to your package.mask
Code: |
# cat /etc/portage/package.mask
=media-video/ffmpeg-0.4.9_p20050906
|
then recompile ffmpeg and avifile
Code: |
# emerge ffmpeg avifile
|

k3b still doesn't show any tracks on a Video DVD - I'm looking to rip them. I just get a blank screen. Any ideas on that one?
Thanks,
Jon |

Certainly... pop in a video DVD, make sure it doesn't mount, open k3b, select the drive you put the DVD in and it should come up with a list of the tracks on the DVD... mine doesnt From here on in, I've never seen! |

I get the same problem. Even if I run as root
Has anyone found a fix for this? |

*shrugs* my install of k3b isn't very reliable. It currently hardlocks the system when i try to burn any iso image to cd. I haven't found a solution, so i simply use cdrecord
[EDIT]
And as i go to record another copy of Knoppix with cdrecord, the command line version locks the system

I had the same problem with K3b not displaying the track information when I went to rip a DVD. I figured out what the problem is. With me, at least, it was my install of transcode. I added in the "dvdread" useflag and it works like a charm now. Just for reference, here are all the useflags I have enabled for trasncode:
Code: | media-video/transcode-0.6.14-r2 (-3dnow) +X -a52 (-altivec) +avi (-divx4linux) -dv +dvdread +encode -fame -gtk +imagemagick +jpeg -lzo -mjpeg (-mmx) +mpeg -network +ogg (-pvm) +quicktime +sdl (-sse) (-sse2) -theora +truetype -v4l +vorbis +xml2 +xvid |
After that, it doesn't seem to want to rip the track, but at least it lists them now... |

adding dvdrip to the transcode use flags also works for me |

Works for me too, looks like we have this part of the saga nailed! Thanks
Now, lots of transcode errors. Apparently the k3b dvd ripping isn't maintained anymore... |
