Hi,
Ich möchte Gentoo Linux auf mein IBM T20 Thinkpad installieren.
Nun bei der automatischen Hardwareerkennung erkennt die BootCD keinen Netzwerkkontroller.
(mit Knoppix läuft es wunderbar, und lspci gibt mir in Knoppix als Netzwerkkontroller die 3Com 3c556 Karte)
Ich hab folgendes probiert :

# modprobe 3c59x
# ifconfig eth0 up
|
....geht nicht.
Hab auch schon versucht mit den Bootparametern :

# boot: gentoo noapic apci=off
|
...und dann...
| Code: |
# modprobe 3c59x
# ifconfig eth0 up
|
...geht auch nicht.
kann mir wer weiterhelfen ???

Wenn die knoppix deine Netzwerkkarte erkennt, und die Gentoo LiveCD nicht, benutze einfach die knoppix CD zur Installation.

Bist du sicher, daß zur 3c556 das 3c59x-modul passt?
Ich würd's einfach mal mit coldplug probieren - der lädt in den allermeisten Fällen das richtige Modul.

Wie macht man das bei der Installations CD?
Wie SinoTech schon schrub, boote mit Knoppix und installiere damit gentoo. Knoppix hat alles was Du dafür brauchst.

versucht und hat geklappt 
vileicht ein schreibfehlerbeim ersten mal ? wer weiss
danke euch trozdem vielmals.
und ja wirklich das 3c59x modul ist das richtige

das basissystem hab ich installiert .
Nun hab ich aber wieder Probeme mit meiner 3c566B Karte und dem 3c59x Modul.
Ich hab das Modul in den Kernel integriert.
aber mit
klappt das nicht : invalid module
any suggestions ??

Mit modprobe kannst du nur Module laden, die auch als Modul gebaut sind. Wenn's fix im Kernel ist, dann brauchst du's nicht laden weil's ja schon drin ist.

aber beim booten hab ich

|
was mach ich falsch ? soll ich die ganze ACPI unterstüzung im Kernel deaktivieren ?
(btw für was ist ACPI ? ist das für automatische erkennung?)
(und was ist coldplug, beziehungsweise hotplug ?)
