Well, I'm new to the forums, but have been using gentoo on several platforms, and figure I'd try GentoOSX. I was duped by the "masked packages" thing, until I got the (seemingly) brilliant idea to try modifying my make.conf.
Ya'll may think I'm nuts, but I changed the ACCEPT_KEYWORD variable in make.conf to accept "ppc". Has anybody tried this before? I'm halfway through an install of ethereal, with no errors thus far... Hope it stays that way.
Here is my current:

I have not tried this yet, but I am pretty sure you will hit some problems.  Else the
packages would have been marked stable already.  You can enable the
ACCEPT_KEYWORDS on a per package base with:

ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~ppc" emerge <package>
|
if you need it.
